ABOUT HÅKABAKA
STORY
The name of the HåkaBaka brand is derived from the village on Vormsi Island, where we live and grew up. The story of HåkaBaka's activities begins when, as a child, we used to visit our grandmother on Vormsi Island a lot. My sister and I spent the whole summer there. In addition to games and other activities, we also had time to sit next to our grandmother and watch her knit wool socks. Making a pair of socks in a day was not a problem for her. The work was fast, precise and neat, and once again a pair of socks were ready to give as a gift or use for ourselves. This has been of great value in developing my personal interest in handicrafts. It didn't take long before I crocheted my first scarf.
As I got older, I became interested in graphic design. The desire to wear art gave rise to the idea that a print I designed on a t-shirt would be authentic, which in turn grew into me starting to design and sew original HåkaBaka t-shirts and sweatshirts. Over time, kimonos and jackets have also been added to them.
Since producing new clothes from new materials is expensive and not exactly environmentally friendly, I decided to go against the grain and use existing resources.
HåkaBaka is a brand that gives new life to production waste and scrap materials, creating unique and high-quality clothing from them. We like simplicity and authenticity, but with our own niche and twist.
